About Theanine Guide

Theanine Guide is a small collection of plain-English guides to L-theanine.

Who writes this site

We're a small team who spent a long time researching L-theanine, and we wanted somewhere to share what we learned in a clear, balanced way.

We cover every format, including capsules, powder, tea and pouches, and we're honest about where each one suits people better. If a guide recommends a product we have a commercial link with, we say so right next to the recommendation.

How we write about research

  • We describe what studies actually measured, including their size and limitations.
  • We cite our sources so you can read them yourself.
  • We don't make health claims. There are currently no authorised health claims for L-theanine in the UK or EU, and we write with that in mind.

Not medical advice

Our guides are for general information only. If you're pregnant, breastfeeding, taking medication or have a medical condition, speak to your doctor or pharmacist before taking any food supplement. Food supplements should not replace a varied, balanced diet and healthy lifestyle.
